About the Scorey One-Name Study

My Grandmother was Lilian SCOREY and on starting my family research a few years ago I soon realised that it was an uncommon surname. My research soon lead me to Hampshire where I found it easy to collect SCOREY names, which soon developed into family groups. I have been attempting to collate the information to bring all the family groups together with some success. I was greatly helped in the early days by Val Clasby, another SCOREY researcher who gave me lots of information, and so this has lead to the one name study registered with the Guild of One-Name Studies. I would welcome any piece of information however small and will do my best to answer any queries.

I have transcribed the GRO Indexes from 1837 to 2003 for all Births, Marriages & Deaths. I am intending to find out the spouses for all marriages, which are also contributed to the Guild Marriage Index. Most census information from 1841 to 1901 has been extracted, though a few have still to be found. Most if not all Wills, Settlement/Removal Orders from Hampshire Record Office have been obtained, burials from the Hampshire Burial Index as well as the National Burial Index, most of the IGI & British Vital Records, and baptisms and marriages from the Hampshire Genealogical Society indexes. I will also be checking parish records where the larger Scorey groups originate.
